Name: Ram
Function: actuarial program
Height: 5'7"
Circuits: blue
Affiliation: User-loyal
(That red lightcycle in the original movie? That's him.~)
Ram was an actuarial program written by Roy Kleinberg and working for a big insurance company; he always got a kick out of helping people plan for their future lives. When the Master Control Program took over the system, Ram was appropriated and sent to the Game Grid, where he survived for 200 microcycles, becoming a highly proficient video warrior.
When a new captive named Flynn was thrown into the next cell over, Ram befriended him, sensing something different about him. He fought alongside Flynn and system hero Tron in the subsequent lightcycle match, following them as they broke out of the Game Grid on a quest to free the system from the MCP.
Despite Ram's misgivings about their chances, the three headed out of the canyons where they'd taken refuge and were ambushed by the MCP's tanks. Ram, knocked unconscious when his lightcycle was hit by enemy fire, was hauled to safety by Flynn, but his functions were compromised and he deteriorated rapidly. He hung on long enough to learn that Flynn was a User; comforted by that knowledge, he implored Flynn to help Tron before deresolving at his feet.
Ram is a pretty laid-back guy, with a dark but mild sense of humor. While a lightweight in terms of load capacity, his ability to adapt and adjust to altered conditions is nonetheless surprisingly sophisticated; he tends to live in the moment and try to enjoy his runtime while he can. Life on the Game Grid forced him to grow outside his normal functions, drawing on precision rather than strength to endure over 200 microcycles as a "guest" of the MCP. Naturally helpful and inquisitive, he quickly bonded with fellow conscripts, especially Tron, who occupied the next cell over. It was often difficult to keep his spirits up while knowing that each time he saw any of them might his last, but as long as a few programs were able to keep the faith, he was able to hold on to hope.
[[This journal is for Ram as he was before, during, or as newly rerezzed after the first movie. Same player as
namesram; I couldn't let the journal name sit unused. XD Ram, Tron, and related indices belong to the Mouse; Dan Shor belongs to himself.~]]
